Top 4 Tips for Playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the latest tactical RPG installment in the famed and long-standing Fire Emblem series took the world by storm a few weeks ago when it launched on July 26, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. More than likely, you’re either still on the fence about getting the game, or have still yet to get through the entirety of it. Regardless, you’ll likely want to keep these 4 tips in mind in the case you do decide to jump into playing this whirlwind of a game!


You’ll gain tons of new abilities through the game for all your characters, but these abilities do not get auto-equipped so be sure to dive into the menus and check for any new abilities before and after battles. Who knows, you might just equip the one ability that could save you from a wipe!


In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the ZR button brings up a purple grid during battles showing the potential attack range of enemies. Be sure to use this information to plan out your tactics as to where to place your team members and how to plan our their attack patterns!


Fire Emblem: Three Houses shows itself as a game with you as a teacher where you interact and fight alongside your students, but your list of potential party members isn’t limited to only students. In fact, you’ll be able to recruit most of the monastery staff for your team, which includes fellow professors! Be sure to make use of your co-workers!


For any of your team members to attack twice, that member’s speed stat will have to be 4 or more points greater than your opponent’s. With this in effect, in a single turn, that team member will automatically attack twice on an enemy unit!
